Velian Jagev Photography Feature

There is a photographer on Deviantart who goes by the name of VJagev. Although a small collection, his gallery is full of amazing macro photos of insects, mainly covered by condensation and droplets of water. He has had one Daily deviation and is surely on his way to a second. I really did think that he could be a professional and had a great interest in insects. However, turned out to be someone who just spends a lot of time outdoors and wants to show extraordinary things to ordinary people.

I hope you enjoy our mini interview. :)

Autumn Beauty

What is you name?

My name is Velian Jagev.

Be nice to me!: A damselfly clinging onto a grass stem

Are you a professional photographer or is it just a hobby?

No, I'm not a professional photographer, I'm a forestry engineer who spends a lot of time in the outdoors (fishing and photography).

His first Daily deviation: Dewy
And you seem to love taking macro photos of insects, particularly, when they are covered in water droplets. Why is that?

I always liked the idea of showing this world so often neglected by the general population. It is quite amazing with some stunning forms and colors. A whole alien world right in front of us, but always forgotten.

Regarding the dew thing...It all started with the timing... insects are quite drowsy early in the morning, when dew occurs, so I actually started to time and place my photo safaris in order to get photos of insects covered with dew. I got sort of hooked on such photos and those are my favorites, not that I don't do "normal" photos of insects.

Enjoy the rest of your day :)
